James Madison University, lecture on Central Banks and Macroeconomic Policy

The new Lecture Series of the European Union Policy Studies Master of James Madison University will start at 9 am on Thursday 29 September 2011 with the lecture "Central Banks and Macroeconomic Policy in the US and the EU: National Unity and Dealing with the Crisis".
In the first lecture of the 2011 EUPS Lecture Series, Professor J. Barkley Rosser, Jr. will examine the current economic crisis and its comparative impact on the US and the EU. He will evaluate how their respective fiscal and monetary policies have played a role in their responses to the crisis, more specifically reviewing the concepts of national indebtedness, status of the central bank and its relationship with the national treasuries, and inter-connections of capital and current markets. Professor Rosser will offer insight into the current debate about potential solutions for recovery from the crisis.
Dr. J. Barkley Rosser, Jr. is Professor of Economics and Kirby L. Cramer, Jr. Professor of Business Administration at James Madison University. He is known as a theorist of economic complexity and has published extensively on financial market dynamics and international finance.
